Eucalyptus Mannifera
Latin Name: Eucalyptus Mannifera
Common Name: Brittle Gum or Red spotted Gum
It is found in Southeastern Australia - endemic
Active Ingredient: 1,8-Cineole also known as Eucalyptol which is a monoterpene found in the essential oils of Eucalyptus
Uses:
Respiratory Relief - mucolytic effect, relieving coughs, bronchitis, asthma, sinusitis and sore throats. Administered via steam inhalation
Anti-inflammatory
Antimicrobial and Antiseptic agent
Some research suggest that eucalyptol enhances alertness and memory when inhaled
Side Effects:
Toxic in large doses, especially in children
Eucalyptol is approved by the FDA to be added to food for odour and taste enhancement
